First flowering in our conservatory orchard!

In Couchois (southern Burgundy), in Saint Sernin du Plain, we have a 1,500 m² plot that is not well-suited to planting vines but offers all the conditions needed to create an orchard, and thus launch our agroforestry* campaign.

*’Setting the vine within its overall environment: hedges, copses, ditches, fruit trees’ aligned with our aim of increasing biodiversity in our adjacent vineyards.

Our conservatory orchard was created in March 2023. Old Burgundian varieties of apple, pear and mirabelle plum trees grow peacefully under the watchful eye of our crop manager. As well as simply harvesting fruit, the aim of these plantations is to enhance the soils’ microbial life and enrich it with elements that will support vine growth.

A flowering hedge to attract bees and ladybirds was planted along the path and three bird nesting boxes were installed, soon to be joined by refuges for bats.

Come back in five years for our first harvest!
